Why OEKO-TEX®?

Oeko-Tex Standard 100 standard, Aim to developed for compensating the requirement of costumers for healthy textile products demands at the beginning of the 1990’s. There was so common that unpleasant news as ‘ Harmful Textiles ’ on media and reflecting the chemicals which were using in producing textile products, involving harmful substances for human health.

However, our demands from modern textile products, cannot be responded to use some of the chemicals while producing process. Trendy colors, easy care, long life and so many specialties required from textile products nowadays and according to the purpose of use (example; work clothes ) can be partly indispensable.

Until OEKO-TEX® Standards 100 standard proceeds, there was no standard of scale neither for consumers evaluate any product label for potentially harmful substances nor textile industry and textile companies. For this reason, Austrian Textile Research Institute  ‘Österreichische Textil-Forschungsinstitut (ÖTI) and German Research Institue developed Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 in common.
